| Competition Site | 2.5 km southeast of Khreschatyk, Kyiv’s main boulevard, the project site of approximately 4.2 ha is located in Pechersk, a district in city center of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Situated in the bosky, hilly banks of Dnipro River and embedded in the generous green belt going along with it, the site overlooks the stream and the eastern part of the city beyond from high above. Moreover the site is characterized by the proximity to the Kyiv-Pechersk Fortress and the Kyiv Caves Monastery, or Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, an ancient monastery complex that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. | Objective | Subject of the competition is the development of design proposlas for a museum and documentation center providing space for exhibition as well as archives, conference and research facilities and includes open space design. The building of 8,000 to 15,000 sqm shall serve as an institution of national and international prominence. |
| Procedure | The competition will be organized as international project competition in two phases. The procedure will be anonymous with approximately 20 participants. It will be organized according to UNESCO standards under consideration of Ukrainian “Procedure of Architectural and Urban Planning Competitions” as approved by Cabinet Order No. 2137 of November 25, 1999. The procedure will be preceeded by an international prequalification procedure open to architects in Ukraine and worldwide. The competition documents including the terms of the procedure will be provided to the participants at the start of the first phase working period. |
| Jury | The international jury will be composed of national and international architects as well as representatives of the promoter and the city of Kyiv. |
